Does anyone know if you can convert a 60 inch mid mount deck to be a mulcher? Any info would be appreciated.

Thaks,

Matt Stauffer

If you look though the posts Art White, Whites Farm Supply I believe recommends Gator blades for the decks to improve cut and mulch.
I believe most of the mulching is blade design, although normally there is no grass shoot, therefore you many need to block it. ....

I'm a Deere Dealer. Yes 60" MMM can be converted to mulching. Let me know what tractor and deck you have and I would be happy to give you the part #.

We sell gator blades through an aftermarket supplier. With the mulching baffle, we have had good cust. response to them. Without the baffle, mixed results. The blades seem to be high quality. But without the baffle, the cut material leaves the mulching chamber before it can be properly prossesed. ....

MRETHICS,

I have a 60 inch deck, originally mounted on an 855, but I have it on my 755. What other info do you need to provide a part number?

Thanks,

Matt ....

I installed the JD mulching kit on my 60" MM mower for my 4100 back in the spring. It works well, chopping the grass up. The kit comes with three new blades that have a different shape as well as as a chute blocker and other pieces that fit inder the mower. In addition there are some pieces that are added under the deck. Hardware is included as you have to drill some holes through the deck to mount some of the new pieces. The whole kit cost about $200 from the local JD dealer and was easy to put on.

Of course the mulcher workes best when the grass is not too long, thick or wet. However, I found this past season that it chops up the grass nice and keeps piles and layers from forming as with the standard blade. ....
